Breaking it in!

Hudson's quilt is done!
My first finish since December.
Wow, I'm really embarrassed just typing that!
It's being put to much good use.

I listened to this book during the many hours
of sewing and hand quilting.

It is beyond captivating!
Fictional characters laced with historical events in Scotland.
I loved all 32 hours of it!
But I must give you my disclaimer....
It made me blush......a lot.
And I don't blush easily.

Can't feel my fingers

I have been having so much fun with my sewing machine
that I forgot about my blog and everyone else's
Please forgive me.
I've spent the last couple of days dragging this everywhere I go....

And since I'm a stubborn fool who hates thimble's
I can't feel my fingers!
I don't normally hand quilt a big quilt like this but the back is minky.
And it's my opinion that the more you stitch minky
the more it loses it's plush.

In other news, I learned that Natalie of Craftin' Mechanic is practically my neighbor!
She's the girl who won last week's goody bag.
So we decided to meet up for breakfast so I could deliver her goods.
And do you know what, she totally spoiled me!
She stubbornly insisted on buying me breakfast
AND
she made me these gorgeous green turquoise earrings!

I immediately told her that
I was the one who was supposed to be doing the spoiling!
Aren't they beautiful and so perfectly simple!?!
I love them and have worn them twice already!
Thanks Natalie!

Me and my new lady friend!

I spent the day yesterday getting acquainted with my new Bernina.
And all I can tell you is that I feel spoiled to have her!

I have finally cut into my stack of Children at Play!
My little H man has grown out of all of his quilts I've made for him.
It's time for a big one.

I whipped up this quilt top lickety split!
I've been staring at it all morning trying to figure out what kind of quilting it needs.
(Sorry, this is the best pic I managed for some odd reason.  But you get the idea)
Any thoughts?  Do share!

I really did it!

For a long while I have been toying with the idea of making the switch to a Bernina.
Yesterday, I popped into my local Bernina shop.
And what do you know, it was the last day of their sale.
I quickly texted my husband about possibly getting a new machine.
Well, he didn't write me back within the minute
so I said "Wrap her up!"

Luckily, my guy knows that a sewing machine is to me what golf clubs and gun collections are to men.
He was more than supportive!
I really love that man :-)
So my new baby is a Quilter's Edition.
It has this amazing stitch regulator for free motion quilting.
I have such a love of FMQ'ing but my current machine isn't a fan.
For whatever reason, when I drop my lower feed it becomes mildly unhappy.

I Have LOVED my Viking Emerald!
This thing is a power house and can sew through any kind of thickness.
In the last 15 years I have sewn exclusively on Viking machines.
What can I say, I'm a fan!
I am mulling over the decision....to sell or not to sell?
This machine is a rock star.
I could save it for my daughter who will likely start learning in a few short years.
Or I could sell it.
It would be a shame to let it just sit around playing second fiddle.

I would love some advice!
Anyone else get attached to their machines like me?
