Refreshed!

My husband surprised me with a super spontaneous
trip down to Vegas over the weekend.
We got back late last night.

We had a fabulous time playing in the pool, eating
and generally just relaxing!

I'm back and ready to roll.
First up, this pattern by Amber over at One Shabby Chick.

Is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen???
I'm really excited to choose my fabrics.
We have plans to take the whole fam on a trip to Belize next year.
So this pattern is just perfect!

Oh and by the way, you have
4 chances to win this pattern.
Hop over to Amber's blog to get more details.

Two Questions....

I finally got around to finishing my daughter's quilt.
The binding feels a little bit......overpowering?
Like it's maybe too bold for this quilt?

QUESTION #1
What are your thoughts?

I really don't care one bit for seam ripping the entire binding.
But I've done it before.
I'll do it again if I must!

Also, I ordered this amazingly darling pillow for her room
from my friend Anna Joy at The Joy Cottage

I'm so in love with it!
It's hiding in the closet until I'm ready to put together
the whole surprise for her.

QUESTION #2
I'm going to this beautiful lake next week...

I would love to take a fun hand sewing project with me
since I'll be spending ample time sitting in the car or on the beach.
I would love some idea's!
I don't normally do very much hand sewing because I'm fairly impatient.
If you have any fun idea's pretty please mention it
in the comments with a link, if you have one.
Many thanks! :-)

Lastly, cheers to small accomplishments!

I quickly whipped up these quilted burp cloths for a
baby shower that I completely forgot about!
I wrapped them around some Burts Bee's Baby Wash.
Bam!  A totally cute baby gift on the fly.

I'm gonna have to make a bunch to have on hand!

Not my usual thing...

I have been spending very little time
at my sewing machine AND the computer.
I gotta tell you, it's been sooooo nice!
Is that a terrible thing to say?

I love to sew.  LOVE!
But I love my kids more.
And we've been busy playing :-)

I did, however, make some time yesterday to whip up
these cute little burp cloths for a friend.

I didn't take any pictures of the process
because, well, I just didn't think about it.
But there are some really amazing tutorials already out there.

I reinforced the decorative fabrics with a layer of
cotton batting that was trimmed just a tad smaller than my fabric.
Then I topstitched it into place because I really hate
how they get all shifty after they're washed.
You know what I'm talking about.

Like I said, sewing burp cloths isn't really what I do.
In fact, I think it's been 5 years since I last made them.
But I quickly remembered how much fun, quick and super easy they are.
I just might have to make more!
Heaven knows I always need baby gifts :-)

*all fabrics were leftover's from this fabricworm bundle*

Patriotic

One of my favorite things about my daughter
is that she is so festive!
She gets so excited for any and all holidays.
She really wanted a fun dress for the 4th but
couldn't find anything that she was very excited about.

So.....
we took this t-shirt from Target

And this XXL Old Navy women's tank top

And we made this darling dress!

I made it extra long because she's so tall and grows so fast!
Hopefully she'll be able to wear it longer than a month or so.

We had a fantastic 4th filled with family and fun!
I hope you guys did too! :-)
