Before

I'm not spending any time with my sewing machine this week.
Since all of the kids are back in school it seems like the perfect time to finish our kitchen overhaul that we started a few months ago.
It's a BIG job!

BEFORE

No, that's not my ugly rug or plastic grapevine's overhead.
This picture was taken by the previous owners when they lived in the home.
That's a whole lotta orange-ish wood!

DURING

That's right friends!  I'm painting my cabinets a crisp and clean white!
Me, a person who is surrounded by a houseful of boys day in and day out.
(including hordes of neighbor kids)
I might be crazy!
But I don't care.

I'll be back soon with, cross your fingers, some after pictures.

  1. White! Awesome. I'm curious to know how you like it; I've thought of doing the same thing.

  2. White is definitely classy! Great choice!

How did that paint sprayer work out? That seems like the way to go, but I've only painted cabinets the old school way by taking off all the doors, sanding, and brush painting. What a lot of work!

  3. Side Stitches,

That sprayer is the bomb! We bought a Pneumatic Spray attachment for $15 and hooked it up to our air compressor. It saved us hours and hours! Also, we lightly sanded the cupboards, washed them down with TSP and used a paint that had primer in it. I'm certainly no expert at refinishing things, but it is looking so nice and smooth.

  4. sweet! the doors don't have to come off! if we have to re-do the next kitchen i'm totally gonna try to sway DH to do it this way!

  5. Love the white! We did that last summer, and even with our three boys and a farmer-husband, I wouldn't change it! Any dirt wipes off easily and for the loveliness of a clean white kitchen, I don't mind a little extra clean-up. Can't wait to see the full reveal!

  6. Toni,
Thanks so much for letting me know. My husband tried to talk me out of white. I'm glad I stuck to my guns!
