Making a Dent

I have been cutting....and cutting...
and cutting!

I am beginning to make a dent in my scrap bin.
These little blocks are for my Scrap Vomit Quilt.
I'm not doing any strip piecing on this one because
I am using up odd bits and pieces of my most beloved scraps.

But I can tell that this will be an "inbetweener" project.
After a while today I started to go brain dead.
So I quickly threw together some instant gratification!

In the form of some fun burp cloth set's for my store :-)

Tomorrow I'll get back to the vomit.
What a great name for this quilt since that is exactly
what my sewing room looks like right now!

The closest I've gotten

With all of the mini trips that we've been doing
I managed to get some hand stitching done.

I did a whole cloth quilt for one of my most favorite ladies!
Her baby is due in a couple of weeks
and we just might be throwing her party.
*I'm not allowed to say "shower"*

I would have loved to have made an heirloom quilt
but her kids all love the simple minky blankets.

I also whipped up some quilted burp cloth's as well.
they're fun and fast.
And I quite enjoy making them.

I'll also be throwing in some of my fave Burt's Bee's baby products.

In other news, I passed by these lovelies the other day
and I just had to bring them home with me!

I have decided to try my hand at indoor plants, yet again!
I've not had the best luck the past zillion times I tried.
But they look so pretty :-) :-) :-)

And lastly, Tackle Football is officially in season!
Both of my oldest boys are playing.

Let the games begin!

Grand Finale + a really long wish list!

Well, I survived our busiest summer EVER!
Phew!
We closed out the summer with a trip to Park City
and our annual Wake Up Party.

What started out as a fun way to haul my kids out of bed
before 11:00 a.m. has now turned into a much loved tradition!

I actually tried to skip it this year but my kids busted me, ha ha!

I lay out a ton of old quilts and chairs.
We set up tables in the driveway
and we nosh on yummy food in our pajamas

We didn't have our usual turnout this year.
Many people were squeezing in one last getaway before school starts.

School starts tomorrow and I can just feel peace and quiet on the way!
At least until 3:30.

I have missed my sewing machine so much!
I have an ever increasing list of things that I'm dying to work on.

These 2 are tops on my list!

Just me rambling....

Well, things have been a wee bit crazy around here!
We came back from a wonderful week in Bear Lake on Thursday

Only to hop back in the car and drive down to St. George
to see my Mom in the hospital.

She was walking her dog, who is the equivalent
of a really hyper and happy grizzly bear,
when the dog in question pulled her feet
right out from underneath her and she landed
smack in the street.

She broke her hip good!
Now, my Mom is 56 years young.
She's not your average hip patient.

She was ever so lucky to receive 6 lovely screws
and one metal plate in her hip and femur.

She'll be down and out for quite some time.
In fact, I'm pretty sure she'll be moving in with me
whether she likes it or not.

In the meantime.......
my kids go back to school in 2 weeks!
Two weeks!

Part of me wonders where all of the time went.
The other part of me is more than ready to get back
to my sewing machine.
Feel me?

Tell me if you do this....
Every year I get so very excited about packing lunches.
sending my children on their way with good food
in their bellies, in their backpacks and a kiss on their cheeks.

It's very romantic isn't it?

I can keep it up for a good long time but then I begin to burn out.
By the end of the year my kids lunch boxes are filled with cookies and chips and junk.

Gah!  I'm totally confessing now!

Last year I did Bento style lunch boxes.
I ordered them from Laptop Lunches.
These are really nice!
They are a bit pricey (and I'm missing some lids and stuff).

I also found this amazing blog ...

She posts links and resources for everything that she puts on her blog.
PLUS lots of lunch ideas to keep your kids from being bored
PLUS PLUS it's all so cheap!
like $3.50 per Bento!

After ordering replacement lids and containers from here
And a whole truckload of supplies from here
I am just crossing my fingers that the Hubs isn't home when UPS shows up at my door :-)

Does anyone else have very idealistic plans for the school year besides me???
