and it begins....

Basketball season has officially begun!
I will be all consumed by more than 6 practices and at least 5 games a week,
sometime's on opposite sides of town!
It is true, we are a basketball family.
Even my little girl plays.

And as much as I am dying to finish my Swoon quilt I really love cheering for my gang!
So production may be slowing down a bit for a while...
Oh, who am I kidding!
I have been working at a snail's pace for months ;-)
But, I only have 1 more block to go!
Yay!

This is a terrible picture taken with my phone.
I will say that I wish I had used more solids.
Somehow, when you mix a solid with a barely there print (below) it looks like an entirely different block.  And I dig that!

I really really really love this pattern!
If this is in your to do list move it up to the top!

The worst thing that ever happened to my thighs...

Pinterest is killing me!
Here are just a few of my "I pinned / I did" items (notice that none of them are crafts)...

Hmmm....now that I am posting this I am seeing a real chocolate and lasagna trend here.
People!  You have got to stop pinning such deliciousness!
I simply don't have the willpower to withstand.
I f you want to be a chubby chubster like me click on the pictures for the recipes.

Here's what I learned...

I had a spectacular time at the Sewing Summit!
If you missed it this year start planning to go next year right now!

Now, here's where I apologize....
I didn't take any pictures.
I gave myself permission to just be there and soak it all up without worrying about my camera.

I took amazing classes!
For instance, I took a class on Color Theory from Jeni.

Go here for a little taste of what we learned.

I also took a class from Vanessa on How to Photograph Your Creations.
She's a bit of a genius if I do say so!

Surprisingly, I loved my applique class!
Surprised because I don't love applique, don't tell anyone though.
I think it's very cute and all, but I LOVE a soft snuggly blankie more!
Natalia and her Mom have devised this amazing technique that takes all of the stiff quality out of applique.
Genius!

Go here to check it out!

And my main reason for going was to take the Free Motion Quilting Class from Allison.
You know what I learned?  That I don't suck at FMQ, my machine does!

She was fantastic!
And her quilts are amazing.  She had so much to share with us.
Definitely worth it!

I also had the opportunity to hang with my old neighbor Emily of Crazy Old Ladies.
She pretty much kept me laughing all weekend!

WOWZA, I look so orange!
I swear it's the lighting in the room and not some kind of sunless tanner.  Bleh!

I also met Cindy from Spin the Bobbin and adored her instantly!
I hope she comes again next year.

Okay, okay I realize this post is very long.
I'm out of pictures anyway :-)

Headed out!

The time has come!
Tomorrow I'll be heading out to The Sewing Summit.  It's possible that I won't know a single person there but I don't even care because I am a giant sewing nerd!
The best part, I don't even have to "travel" to the Summit because it's right here in town.
I'm only bummed because I didn't make any of the Traveling Handmade fabulousness.
Like this one in particular.....
Hello gorgeous!!!

I love getting mail!

And not just from the UPS man either.
The other day I received these gorgeous photos in my inbox!

I made this custom quilt for Tanya Shields.
She is a delightful photographer!
Her work is so natural and lovely.

And can I just add that she makes this quilt look GOOD!
Thank you Tanya for sending me these pictures.
You made my day! :-)
